Matt Yglesias: ‘Why do I care if scandals or pseudoscandals’ hurt Obama?
Given that Obama is ineligible for reelection, why do I care if scandals or pseudoscandals hurt him politically?
— Matthew Yglesias (@mattyglesias) May 16, 2013
This whole Benghazi pseudo-scandal was supposed to have blown over by now, right? As long ago as November, liberals like DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have been telling people to “give it a rest” — after all, “the election’s over” and Obama won, so what difference, at this point, does it make? Like Stephanie Cutter explained, Benghazi wouldn’t have been a scandal at all if it weren’t for Mitt Romney politicizing it.
It’s May, the scandal still hasn’t gone away, and Slate’s Matt Yglesias still doesn’t get it.
@mattyglesias You kinda want the president to have the political capital to, you know… do his job.
