Three Soldiers Sing Beautiful Song About Coming Back Home
The three members of the British Army seen in this video are on a mission. Their goal? Raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund. The objective of the Army Benevolent Fund is to: “make grants to individuals through their Regiments and Corps and support a wide range of specialist charities that sustain the British Army ‘family’, both at home and around the world. We take pride in being responsive, making a difference at a critical point in peoples’ lives.”
Veterans often have difficulty adjusting back to life as a civilian, and establishing financial stability is sometimes a concern. This problem is especially prevalent in those who return from service with injuries and disabilities. What’s worse is that some families can go through extreme financial hardships when a family member gives their life in service of their country.
Simply calling themselves The Soldiers, the group in this video consists of Sergeant Major Gary Chilton, Staff Sergeant Richie Maddocks and Lance Corporal Ryan Idzi. Their debut album was released in October of 2009 and has become a hit across the country. Surprisingly, the three have continued to act as full-time personnel of the army while pursuing a singing career as a side project. Seen in this video performing the title song off the album “Coming Home,” The Soldiers donate a portion of their proceeds to the Army Benevolent Fund. Aside from being admirable individuals, these three have a vocal talent that is sure to surprise you.
