“Twerking” Tops Google’s Trends List For 2013
1. The phrase “what is Twerking?” is at the top of Google’s trends list in the U.K. for 2013.
The dance move, made aware to the general public by Miley Cyrus’ buttocks, apparently confused quite a lot of people.
For those who are still wondering, OxfordDictionaries.com says it’s a “dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.”
3. And apparently more people searched for “how to make pancakes” than they did about losing weight.
So, it appears that not all hope is lost.
People also wanted to know how to write a CV, play guitar, and play poker. (Perhaps there were a lot of hungry, unemployed aspiring musicians who needed to make a quick quid in the U.K. this year.)
9. But, despite top trends of searching for YOLO and spooning, Google want us to remember that 2013 wasn’t all about passing dance crazes.
